Kirigami Cardboard Furniture Design
The design for the Kirigami Side table is informed by the geometric folds of origami. The intention of this project is to gain an understanding of the construction and joinery of furnishings. The side table is constructed entirely of cardboard (aside from the wooden knobs) and is capable of supporting up to 200 lbs. of weight. The grid-like interior structure gives the table strength, while the openings for drawers maintain it's functionality and aesthetic.
