Concept & Overview:
The Hotel Hammonia will combine these three culturally defining terms into the concept of Returning Home. Gemutlichkeit describes this concept in terms of feeling, or what it feels like to return home after a long vacation, while the schwanenvater demonstrates this concept in terms of escorting the swans back to their home. Hammonia is the physical embodiment of this idea as she represents Hamburgs core values defined by freedom, peace, prosperity, and harmony. Tourists and locals alike come to Hamburg because it feels like home. The design will strategically utilize this concept by incorporating all of the comforts of one’s home. Warm, fuzzy materials and cozy corners allow guests to make themselves feel as though they are returning home rather than vacationing.
